Looking for Dragonsweeper on your phone?

Updated July 2026

Dragonsweeper — Daniel Benmergui's 2025 hit — is a free browser game on itch.io. You can open it in a phone browser, but as of July 2026 there's no official native mobile app: no offline play, no haptics, just a web page doing its best in a tab.

If what you actually want is monster minesweeper that lives on your phone, that's exactly why we built Grimlings — an independent iOS game in the same genre, designed for native play from the first tap.

The genre, briefly

Classic minesweeper numbers count adjacent mines. The monster-minesweeper idea — pioneered by the Japanese cult classic Mamono Sweeper and made famous by Dragonsweeper — replaces mines with monsters of different strengths, so a number tells you the total power nearby, not the count. One clue, many readings, far richer deduction.

How Grimlings plays it

Every number is the summed fangs of adjacent grimlings, which come in ranks 1–3: a "3" might be one Maw or three Nibs. You carry a pool of hearts down a deepening dungeon — dig up a grimling and it bites for its fang value. And unlike anything in the genre's browser roots: every board is certified no-guess by a solver before you see it, so a clean line of logic never costs a heart. Daily Delve, streaks, and a ~30-species bestiary round out the loop.

To be clear: Dragonsweeper is excellent, and if you're at a computer you should absolutely play it. This page exists for the moment you reach for your phone.

Frequently asked

Is there an official Dragonsweeper app?
Not as of July 2026 — it's a browser game. Be wary of app-store listings using the name; the real thing lives on itch.io.

Is Grimlings a port of Dragonsweeper?
No — an independent game in the same genre, with its own fang math, hearts, and no-guess guarantee.

Does Grimlings work offline?
Yes. Boards generate on the device; a flight is a fine place to descend.
